Firefighters Responding to More Heat-Related Emergencies Than Ever

Local firefighters are responding to a spike in heat-related emergencies this summer. Tucson Fire has already responded to 39 heat-related illness calls halfway through August—more than the entire month of June. Rural Metro Fire reports 8 out of 10 recent hiker rescues in North County were heat-related.

As temperatures top 105-106 degrees with little relief at night, it's critical to stay hydrated, avoid hiking during peak heat, and know the signs of heat exhaustion.
